Dozens of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters are marching through the streets of Kugompo City in the Eastern Cape ahead of their leader Julius Malema’s sentencing.
Malema is set to return to the East London Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for final arguments, with sentencing proceedings expected on Thursday.
This follows his recent conviction, where he was found guilty of contravening firearms laws.
The EFF leader was seen in viral footage from a 2018 rally in Mdantsane, where he appeared to fire shots into the air using what looked like a rifle.

Hundreds of EFF supporters have taken to the streets, along the Quigney beachfront, singing and marching ahead of Malema’s court appearance.
Their destination is Jan Smuts Stadium, where a night vigil is set to be held before Malema’s return to the dock.
Just last week, Malema told journalists that his lawyers will put on a fight.
"We are going to East London on 15 and 16 April for sentencing. We have already said we would appeal the judgment. The state has already put in the heads of argument they are calling for direct imprisonment of 15 years. So you can see that someone is doing everything in their power to get me into jail.
Malema has also announced intentions to appeal his conviction.
