Former uMzimkhulu municipal manager Stanley Sikhosana, linked to the murder of former ANC Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa, has been denied bail.
Sikhosana was re-arrested by the KwaZulu-Natal political task team in July.
Magaqa was shot execution style in his hometown of uMzimkhulu in July 2017. He later died at the Chief Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban in September 2017.
The uMzimkhulu Magistrate's Court ruled a short while ago that Sikhosana failed to show exceptional circumstances for his release on bail.
