Disaster teams deployed as KZN braces for flooding under Level 4 rain warning

Disaster management teams have been deployed across parts of KwaZulu-Natal as severe weather continues to impact the province on Sunday.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall, with heavy showers expected in several areas.

The SA Weather Service’s Level 4 warning for disruptive rains covers large parts of the province, with forecasts pointing to possible flooding in low-lying areas, road closures, and damage to infrastructure.

Authorities say the weather may also disrupt essential services and pose a threat to human life and livestock.

Provincial traffic teams have been stationed along major routes to assist with potential disruptions.

The Department of Cooperative Governance is urging residents to stay alert and take the necessary precautions as conditions worsen.
