Eight families have been left destitute after a fire tore through a block of flats in Ocean View on Sunday afternoon.
Six units were destroyed in the blaze, leaving the affected families in urgent need of basic supplies. Community members are appealing for donations, especially with matric exams approaching.
Needed items include clothing, food, blankets, and baby supplies such as food and clothing.
Rushda Richards, chair of the Ocean View Community Policing Forum (CPF), said donations can be dropped off at Sandy’s Bistro in Fish Hoek and Living Hope in Ocean View.
“I would just like to say we’re still in need of toiletries, underwear and socks for both males and females, as well as kitchenware. Donations can be dropped off at the CPF offices, and we will continue collecting for the rest of the week,” Richards said.
