A fire on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in Deer Park has been contained.
The blaze broke out on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Table Mountain National Park, the city’s Fire and Rescue Service and Volunteer Wildfire Services battled intense overnight winds to get the fire under control.
Crews are busy with mopping up operations while monitoring for hotspots.
The bulk of the teams of firefighters were seen leaving Deer Park on Wednesday morning.
Fire crews worked through the night, battling temperamental winds, blistering conditions and a rapidly moving fire line to protect homes at the foot of Table Mountain.
The cooler weather on Wednesday has offered some relief, but SANParks spokesperson Charles Phahlane said firefighters will remain in the area throughout the day.
"We are quite pleased with the progress we have made but there are still some heavy fuels burning here. So, our crew will be on the ground extinguishing some of the embers that we have here, that's part of our mopping up operations."
Light rain is expected later in the day, but a crew will remain on standby overnight in case of any flare-ups.
