Fears of a full-scale gang war have intensified in Ottery following the fatal shooting of a high-ranking gang member over the weekend, sparking deadly retaliation.
Multiple shots were fired on Saturday morning in what is believed to be an exchange of violence between the Mongrels and the No Fears gangs.
Reliable sources indicate the flare-up began after the No Fears gang allegedly shot dead a high-ranking Mongrels gangster, 25-year-old Ameeroedien du Plooy, on Saturday.

In swift retaliation that same morning, the mongrels reportedly shot and killed a 34-year-old No Fears gangster.
The escalating violence has prompted a strong police presence in the area since the weekend. Howard Downes of the Grassy Park Community Policing Forum expressed concern over the community's safety.
"Right now there's a lot of tension and it's to be expected," Downes stated. "Whenever there's a gangster that is shot, there's always retaliation, and the community is always in fear."
The twin gang killings are the latest manifestation of rising gang violence that continues to grip Cape Town, with multiple shooting incidents occurring across various areas daily.
