Zamani Ximba, a suspect linked to the murder of Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) Deputy Chief Whip, Khethamabala Sithole, was killed in a shootout with police early on Thursday morning in Duduza, Ekurhuleni.

Ximba was found at a hiding place in Duduza after being sought in connection with the fatal shooting of Sithole and the attempted murder of two other individuals in Katlehong in May this year.

Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident.

"Zamani Ngila Ximba, who was wanted for the alleged murder of Inkatha Freedom Party Deputy Chief Whip, Mr Khethamabala Sithole, and for the attempted murder of two other people, was fatally wounded during the early hours on Thursday, 09 October 2025, in Duduza, Ekurhuleni."

When officers attempted to arrest Ximba, he allegedly fired shots at them, prompting police to return fire.

Masondo added that two other suspects, Bhekukuhle Sithole, aged 36, and Mkhululi Sithole, aged 33, were arrested within a few days of the May shooting and charged with murder and attempted murder.

They remain in custody, and their next court appearance is scheduled for 20 November 2025.
