The chief of staff to police minister on leave, Senzo Mchunu, says he used to arrange meetings between the minister and controversial businessman, Brown Mogotsi, however, there was nothing untoward about their relationship.
Cedrick Nkabinde held a media briefing in Sandton on Thursday, where he responded to some of the allegations against him.
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, recently told Parliament that Nkabinde gave him Mogotsi’s phone number.
Mogotsi has links to suspected criminal boss, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala and is alleged to have unduly influenced Mchunu to disband the SAPS polital killings task team.
Nkabinde said he knows Mogotsi, however, he would respond to the allegations properly when he appeared before the Madlanga Commission or Parliament.
"I don’t have any relationship with Mogotsi. Brown Mogotsi is one of the guests, like any other guest, that comes and visits the minister and as the person responsible for arranging those meetings, then I know him. He arranged those meetings through me."
