Dirco hails Mthethwa as a 'global icon'

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has hailed the late South African Ambassador to France and Monaco, Nathi Mthethwa, as a "global icon."
Ambassador Mthethwa passed away in Paris last Monday. He will be accorded a Special Official Funeral - Category 2 at the Dondotha Stadium in Kwambonambi, northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Dirco stated that Mthethwa served not only his country but also the international community.

"His solidarity with the people of Cuba, with the people of Western Sahara, and the people of Palestine was really an indelible contribution to his life," said Dirco Deputy Minister, Alvin Botes. "His life was always about abantu; it was never about himself."
Deputy Minister Botes further noted that the late Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa had dedicated his life and times to being a public servant.
