PINETOWN - The KwaZulu-Natal Crime Intelligence officer killed in a road rage incident will be laid to rest on Saturday.
 
Constable Sbonelo Ngidi was shot and killed when his car was blocked by another motorist last Friday.
 
The suspect, who is also a police officer, was arrested by the Hawks on Friday.
 
Family, friends, and colleagues of Ngidi will gather in the Marrianhill area of Durban to bid a final farewell to him on Saturday.  
 
Though he was not killed while in the line of duty, his fellow colleagues will honour him for his life and dedication to the service.
 
His name will be engraved in the growing list of police officers killed in the province this year alone.
 
KwaZulu-Natal Hawks spokesperson, Simphiwe Mhlongo: "The suspect was arrested after an intensive investigation by Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation, who were working together with Durban Metro Police Trio Task Team."
 
The arrested constable will make his first court appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Monday.
