Southern Sun turns World Champagne Day into a month-long celebration

Champagne is synonymous with celebratory occasions, and Southern Sun has launched a month-long celebration of this unique French sparkling wine in honour of World Champagne Day.

It's the 11th year that the hotel group has marked the day, but only the second time that it's extended its activation for an entire month.

While the celebration of Champagne Day globally this year is on 24 October, Southern Sun kicked off on 16 October with the promotion that will run until 16 November, in partnership with French giant Moët & Chandon.

As group sommelier Miguel Chan puts it, champagne is a sparkling wine, but not every sparkling wine is a champagne.

The real thing is produced onlyin the Champagne region of France.

Not only is Moët the world's best-loved bubbly brand, says Chan, its quality remains consistent.

"The consistency of the bubbles is a testament to the quality inside the bottle. From the first glass to the last, it's about that consistency, so the champagne does not go flat in glass."
