Action SA mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, aims to carry out his 2016 plan to dismantle some of the city's entities to save money.
These include Joburg Water, City Power and Pikitup.
Speaking on 702 on Monday night, the former Johannesburg mayor said he noted that the organisations failed to deliver services.
Mashaba said most executives at the entities were cadre deployments, which he intends to stop during his tenure.
“I’m on record unapologetically so that this time around, if I get the mandate to be the mayor of the City of Johannesburg, this time around, the city entities like Joburg Water, City Power and Pikitup, I am going to dismantle them.”
He said he will prioritise dismantling the entities should he return to the city's first office.
“In the first or second sitting of council, I am going to bring in a report for the desolation of these entities. They must be run by the Section 56 managers appointed by the processes approved by council. They report directly to the city manager.”
