The inquiry into sexual harassment allegations against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge resumes on Tuesday morning.

Secretary at the court, Andiswa Mengo, is accusing the top judge of sending her pornographic material and repeatedly making unwanted inappropriate advances towards her.

The series of incidents allegedly occured between 2021 and 2022.

While Mengo alleges that the advances from Mbenenge were unwanted and warrant sexual harassment, he denies this, insisting that their relationship was consensual.

He claims that Mengo sent him provocative pictures of herself, soliciting compliments from him and later deleted them.

Mengo claims that Mbenenge sent her pictures of his private parts and also deleted them.

Over the next two days, counsel for both the judge and Mengo will make oral arguments before a judicial conduct tribunal panel.

If found guilty of gross misconduct, Mbenenge could be the next judge in South Africa to be impeached.
