A detective from Gauteng Organised Crime has revealed details of significant interference that allegedly occurred during the December arrest of murder accused and multi-millionaire, Katiso “KT” Molefe.
Testifying partially in-camera before the Madlanga Commission, the witness, identified only as Witness A, stated that when they pounced on Molefe’s lavish Sandhurst home, members of the Hawks arrived, demanding to know what was happening.
It is alleged that the Hawks unit was deployed under the instruction of the Former Head, Godfrey Lebeya.
Molefe was arrested in connection with the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart. He was later formally charged with the murders of DJs Sumbody and Vintos.
According to Witness A, a Gauteng Traffic Police chopper was also deployed to Molefe’s home during the raid.
Witness A claims they later discovered that the Gauteng Traffic Police had been briefed by the Hawks about a possible bogus operation taking place at Molefe’ residence.
The witness detailed the unusual aerial activity: “It just made turns for maybe about ten minutes. I could see that it was a police helicopter, not SAPS, but it was a Traffic helicopter just hovering so low over this house. We thought something big was happening.”
