A witness before the Madlanga Commission has revealed how certain generals within the South African Police Service (SAPS) were not happy about the arrest of murder-accused multi-millionaire Katiso “KT” Molefe.
The detective from Gauteng’s Organised Crime Unit is currently testifying partially in-camera before the inquiry.
Molefe was arrested during a takedown, search-and-seizure operation, at his lavish Sandhurst home in December last year.
This after he was linked to the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart.
Swart’s company, Q-Tech, blew the whistle on massive price inflation by the SK Group who were supplying Transnet freight rail with products acquired from Q-tech.
Witness “A” said after a raid and the arrest of Molefe on charges of murder in December, he received a call from someone known to him, who was not part of SAPS.

The unidentified person informed him that they had just arrested someone who was close to “the generals” without specifying which generals he was referring to.
“I don’t think they [generals] appreciated that our investigations would lead to Mr Molefe. Now when the time came that we arrested Molefe we were explicitly told that ‘now you have just arrested a person of the generals, are you aware of that?’”
On Monday, Witness “A” testified that a certain businessman, Vusi Ndlala, hosted a party at his lavish boutique hotel in Randburg, just weeks after Swart was gunned down.
Witness “A” revealed that the head of organised crime in SA, Richard Shibiri, was present at the party along with other police officers.
The witness believes he was invited to the party as an attempt to have information extracted from him about the investigations into Swart’s murder.
At another party arranged by Ndlala last year, Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Tommy Mthombeni was present.
