Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile this week launched the Safer Festive Season Plans for the Cape Winelands, starting in Stellenbosch.
The campaign forms part of the police’s overall strategy to create safer environments for residents and visitors during the festive period.
Police spokesperson Andrè Traut confirmed that police visibility will be increased. He warned that offenders will face decisive action from law enforcement.
“Police in the Western Cape have launched the safer festive season operations in the Cape Winelands, focusing on intensive high patrols, roadblocks and crime prevention initiatives in high traffic areas such as Paarl, Worcester and Ceres.”
Traut added that the campaign also calls for community action and participation in maintaining a safe environment.
“The campaign forms part of Operation Shanela Two and aims to ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors,” he said.
