Police nab second suspect after five killed in Zithobeni tavern attack

The second suspect wanted in relation to the mass shooting that claimed five lives at a tavern in Bronkhorstspruit earlier this month has been arrested.
The incident, which occurred at a local tavern in Zithobeni Township, also left six others injured after two armed men opened fire.

One of the suspects was arrested days after the police traced him back tothe township. He faces charges including five counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder.
The second suspect was apprehended during a tracing operation on Friday in the same township where the incident happened.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili confirmed the arrestand the recovery of evidence.
"The police recovered an unlicensed firearm with serial numbers filed off. He will be appearing before the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court on October 27, 2025."
The second suspect is also facing charges of five counts of murder and six counts of attempted murder.
The first accused, Musawenkosi Xulu, remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
