The Proteas Women suffered two major batting collapses during the group phase of the ICC Cricket World Cup, one at the start against England, and another against the defending champions Australia in Indore last Saturday.

However, between these matches, they won five games on the bounce, with the batters playing a major role in the hot streak, which included the Proteas’ first-ever total in excess of 300 at the World Cup.

South Africa will now face England in the first semi-final at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, October 29. Play starts at 15:00 local time (11:30 SAST).

The Proteas Women have set themselves up to make a big push for a maiden ICC Cricket World Cup title. They were stopped at the semi-final stage by England in the past two editions, in 2017 and 2022.

At this year’s tournament, it was England again who threatened to derail the Proteas’ World Cup before it even began properly.
