On Wednesday 29 October, the England Women take on the South Africa Proteas Women in the first semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Firdose Moonda, ESPN commentator and writer says team Proteas are 'off to a good start'.
"I think this is going to be an interesting period. South Africa will put into bat and we hope they can get on top of that. If they can get close to 280, 300, I think they'll give themselves a great chance."
On England's side, Sophie Ecclestone's left shoulder has a minor injury to the joint next to her collarbone, but she is playing.
"It's her bowling shoulder... but Sophie Ecclestone is the best in the world for a reason so you can see why they're willing to play her even though she's not fully fit."
"South Africa's record against England in ODIs is poor, they've only won one out of the 11 matches played against them. But they're catching up nicely. Obviously, we want them to win and see them in a final and even if they are to bow out at this stage, they've done well this tournament and they're building really nicely... I do think this is a team that maybe in the next three, four years will bring home a trophy."
If South Africa's Proteas Women manage to make it through to the final "it will be huge for women's sport in the country."
At the time of this interview, the Proteas Women stand are at a solid 32 overs with 156-3.
