Cape Town born Zach Porthen will make his Springbok debut against Japan on Saturday.
The 22-year-old makes history as South Africa's youngest prop, after only one appearance for the DHL Stormers.
Porthen's high school rugby coach, Justin Van Winkel, said with his skill set, they knew he was destined for greatness.
Meanwhile, the Wynberg Boys Junior School headmaster, Cedric Poleman, took the school's social media page to wish him well.
"It feels like yesterday when you were still running around on these fields. I speak for all the staff, and everyone involved in this community when we say we absolutely super proud of you."
Some of his teachers added their voice to wishing him well and expressing their pride.
"Well done on your first cap for South Africa. May all go well on Saturday. Represent your country, your school and your family. Well done buddy."
