A French cyclist has survived for three days after a 130-foot (40-metre) fall into a ravine.
World news correspondent Adam Gilchrist reports that he was kept alive by drinking the bottles of red wine that he had in his shopping bag.
The 77-year-old missed a turn on his way home from the supermarket when he rolled down a rocky slope and into a ravine near Saint-Julien-des-Points.
“He couldn’t scramble out of the ravine. He called for help every time he heard a noise up above, but nobody seemed to answer,” says Gilchrist.
Finally, he was rescued after passing roadworkers heard him yelling and spotted the bicycle.
He was airlifted to the hospital and is recovering well with minor injuries.
