Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, told the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday afternoon that he briefed Police Minister Senzo Mchunu in January about investigations into the so-called Big Five Cartel.
Khumalo said that the unit identified several senior cops who were allegedly in cahoots with the big Five Cartel.
The group includes criminally accused tenderpreneurs, Katiso "KT" Molefe and Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, who allegedly captured the criminal justice system in Gauteng.
Khumalo has identified the cops suspected of assisting the cartel.
"Some, I’ll be able to name because they’ve come up in the evidence that has been led in the commission. Lieutenant-General Sibiya, Major-General Shibiri, Brigadier Nkhwashu, Captain Magotle were identified at that time."
