Tiffany Nicole Meek murder case postponed for pre-trial

The case of a mother accused of killing her 11-year-old son has been postponed to the Johannesburg High Court for pre-trial.
Tiffany Nicole Meek appeared before the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning for the finalisation of the indictment in her case.
Meek is accused of killing Jayden-Lee after the little boy's body was found on a staircase near their unit at a Fleurhof complex in May.
During Wednesday morning's proceedings, Meek's legal representative, Noven Naido, notified the court that she will be using Legal Aid for the rest of her case.
"I have been instructed by the accused that she can no longer afford my services, and she wishes to apply for Legal Aid in the matter."
Meek also told ourt that someone tried to kill her in prison.
Her lawyer revealed that she was stabbed by a fellow inmate about two weeks ago, but the motive behind this attack remains unclear.
However, its understood Meek had been receiving threats in the lead up to the stabbing.
Naido explained: "She has a fatal injury, she has been stabbed in her right forearm. She has received medical attention at the prison and there's also an investigation that is ongoing. The perpetrator was apprehended in prison."
The case was postponed to the 20 November for a pre-trial hearing.
