The Western Cape Agriculture Department is calling on all livestock owners to report the transportation of their animals.
This comes after the foot and mouth disease outbreak was confirmed this past week.
Three farms in the Western Cape have confirmed cases, and farms within a 10-kilometer radius are now under quarantine.
State Veterinarian Dr Lesley van Helden warns that all animals that have moved, should be quarantined for 28 days.
"In order to halt the spread of this devastating disease, Western Cape veterinary services would like to warn livestock keepers against moving any cloven-hooved animals while the extent of the disease outbreak is being determined. And moving of livestock into or within in the province must be reported."
