The Gauteng government has once again raised alarm bells over vandalism of public infrastructure across the city of Johannesburg as the G20 Leaders' Summit quickly approaches.
Government has been working around the clock to clean up Johannesburg ahead of the summit, which will see at least 60 heads of state attend the official event at the Nasrec Expo Centre in two weeks.
Gauteng government spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga, believes the vandalism of infrastructure and G20 signage ahead of the event is a deliberate and malicious campaign of sabotage.
"It has become clear in our view that this is not petty crime but it is organised, it is deliberate and that it is orchestrated by people who have something to gain by the vandalism."
