The two Ndimande brothers who are linked to the murder of rapper, Kiernan "AKA" Forbes, and businessman, Tebello Motsoane, have now officially been charged.

They face 20 criminal charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder as well as firearm-related charges.

Some of the charges relate to other cases, including the murder of a taxi boss in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.

They will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.

It took over an hour for Interpol authorities to hand over the accused to the South African police at the King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday morning.

Once in police custody, the suspects were in an armoured vehicle, with extra security by various police units.

A police helicopter hovered over the convoy as it made its way to the Durban Central Police Station, where the brothers were officially charged.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said that the operation was a major one.

"It is a significant moment and well done to the teams that have worked. We thank the office of the director of public prosecutions in KwaZulu-Natal for all that they’ve done for us, the NPA, great collaborative work, great partnership."

She added that Eswatini authorities also played a huge role.

"We thank the authorities in Eswatini for the role that they’ve played when we alerted them that the suspects are in Eswatini.”

The suspects will make their first court appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
