Political parties in the Gauteng provincial legislature are currently debating a motion of no confidence in Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
The motion, which was tabled by the Democratic Alliance (DA), accuses Lesufi of mismanaging government affairs.
It was triggered by the discontinuation of the crime prevention wardens and the DA’s claim that Lesufi mishandled the Tembisa Hospital tender corruption case.
African National Congress (ANC) chief whip in the legislature, Lesego Makhubele, said the DA's motion is an attempt to destabilise government.
"We are sleeping as members of the legislature. As lawmakers, we are not doing anything to pass laws. We are here to deal with frivolous motions of no confidence."
