After many back-and-forth negotiations, FlySafair and the South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) finally reached an agreement in their labour dispute on Thursday, 13 November.

Chief marketing manager at FlySafair, Kirby Gordon explains what this deal means for FlySafair’s future.

"It's materially the same as what was tabled by the company last Friday, and at that point rejected by the union... increases to the base pay of between 6% and 6.9% over the various years, a guaranteed bonus of 7.5%, then obviously the agreed notch progressions for the cabin attendants, and then a meal allowance that's built in of R30 per day that they're operating."

Gordon said that all included, the value of the four-year deal was about 19% effective increase per individual.

He also confirmed that the process of having the company's policies tested at the Department of Labour was ongoing.
