Concerns have been raised over the 121 dockets that were taken from the KZN Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) to the national police headquarters in Pretoria.
The dockets were taken to police headquarters for auditing, and once complete, they remained there due to confusion over what needed to happen with them.
The matter has been put before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry as more evidence is unpacked on the disbandment of the PKTT.
Testifying before the Madlanga Commission, SAPS component head for serious and violent crime investigation, Mary Motsepe, revealed how the 121 dockets taken from the PKTT for auditing landed on her lap.
She claims the dockets were brought to SAPS headquarters in Pretoria for auditing after KZN police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, refused to have anything to do with them.

Motsepe says during a meeting with suspended deputy national police commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya, in May, she was informed that there was approval for the disbandment of the PKTT.
"He told me that according to the approved organisational structure, the PKTT must cease to operate and fall under murder and robbery."
She said, according to her understanding, after Mkhwanazi distanced himself from the dockets, national police commissioner, Fannie Masemola, instructed that Sibiya use his own discretion as to what needed to be done with the dockets.
She claims Sibiya instructed her to form a team of detectives to investigate the dockets since Mkhwanazi didn't want anything to do with them.
