Concerns over outlandish claims made without proof by alleged Crime Intelligence agent, Brown Mogotsi, have been raised at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday afternoon.

Mogotsi is currently being cross-examined by evidence leader, Advocate Matthew Chaskalson, at the commission in Pretoria.

On Tuesday, Mogotsi alleged that both KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini were operatives of the CIA, working for the interests of the United States.

Co-commissioner Advocate Sesi Baloyi took issue with Mogotsi's inability to provide proof to substantiate his claims.

"I’m concerned that we may well be grossly irresponsible and reckless as a commission that we’ve given you a platform where you’re making all these statements and you present them as facts and you keep saying 'I’m here to help the commission' when in fact they are not backed up by any facts or even basic investigation on your part."
