Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has tightened security at the OR Tambo International Airport to ensure the safety of G20 visitors.

Guests from around the world are expected to start arriving on Thursday to attend the international event at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg this weekend.

Delegates will land at OR Tambo, Waterkloof Air Force Base, and Lanseria International Airports.

Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, ACSA CEO Mpumi Mpofu said the safety of international guests remains a top priority.

“We have deployed additional security staff, which is called aviation security staff from ACSA. Within that is a mew deployment of a tactical unit that has been deployed specifically to manage land side and air side problems.”
