Police report day two of G20 Leaders’ Summit has seen no disruptions

Police said they remain confident in their security measures for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, reporting that the international event has seen no disruptions on Sunday.
On Saturday, officers dealt with a tense standoff with the controversial group Operation Dudula, who’s members protested outside the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

Members of the group attempted to block the intersection of Chris Hani and Nasrec Road, prompting police to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said Sunday has been far calmer, with no such incident recorded.
“So far, everything is running smooth and there have been not any disruptions to the actual event. As you have seen, security has been heightened and that is just to ensure that this event takes place in a safe, secure and a peaceful environment.”
