Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing allegations of police corruption resumes from Pretoria’s Kgoši Mampuru II Correctional Facility on Tuesday.

The committee moved its business to the capital to be able to get oral evidence from attempted murder accused Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala who will appear at the correctional facility tomorrow.

Members of Parliament will also have an opportunity to hear evidence at the same venue from police chief financial officer and the deputy national commissioner, Puleng Dimpane, on police finances and irregular expenditure.

The first Gauteng witness will be Dimpane, who will cover issues around the political killings task team and irregular expenditure.

Vusimuzi “cat” Matlala, who is currently awaitingtrial at Kgoši Mampuru II Correctional Facility for an unrelated matter, will give testimony on Wednesday as part of the proceedings before the committee moves back to Parliament next week.

Matlala, one of the main characters implicated in police corruption and interference, is expected to give explosive evidence around the alleged payments and bribes he made to politicians like former minister Bheki Cele and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

Parliament said the decision to move to Pretoria follows a resolution by the committee and is intended to ensure the safety and security of all parties.
