The performance of the South African judiciary will come into focus on Tuesday with the release of the annual judiciary reports.
Chief Justice Mandisa Maya will release the data on the performance of South Africa’s courts for the last two financial years.
The annual judiciary report is a tool through which the judiciary accounts to South Africans for the performance of its judicial functions.
In her report, Maya will paint a picture of how the courts faired in serving the people and where the failures and challenges may have been recorded.
Maya will also give an address on the state of the judiciary and strides towards its complete independence.
South Africa’s shortage of judges is also likely to be a theme explored by Maya in her reports, with delays expected on how it affects the administration of justice.
