The trial of Durban gun dealer Anderson Padayachee is set to resume in the Western Cape High court on Tuesday.

Padayachee is standing trial for allegedly selling high-calibre rifles and firearms to gang members in Cape Town between 2018 and 2019.

He was arrested by the Hawks in 2021, and his trial began in November 2024.

Padayachee faces a total of 66 charges under the Prevention of Organised Crimes and the Fire Control Act.

Firearms registered to Padayachee's gun dealership in Durban were allegedly implicated in murders committed by the notorious Terrible Josters gang.

The State argues that the firearms are linked to eight premeditated murders and claims that Padayachee pocketed R700,000 from the sale.

It also added that the accused should have foreseen the likelihood of the firearms being used in criminal activity yet proceeded to supply the gang with the firearms.

Padayachee has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
