Cape Town is gearing up for its annual festive lights switch-on this Sunday, with The World's Most Beautiful City expecting around 80,000 visitors.
The free open-air concert will run from 4 pm to 10 pm at the Grand Parade, with access points opening at 1 pm to allow early arrival and security screening.
Attendees are reminded that no alcohol, fireworks, weapons, umbrellas, or gazebos will be permitted inside the precinct.
Residents are advised to plan for road closures and public transport disruptions, particularly around Adderley, Darling, and Long Market Streets, which will be closed from 5 am Sunday until 5 am Monday.
The event will feature a lineup of top local artists, including GoodLuck, Kurt Darren, Tarryn Lamb, Early B and Justin Vega, with DJ Zinhle headlining the celebrations.
Kfm’s Carl Wastie, Joe Barber, Bubblegum, and Boura Jules will be the MCs.
Families are encouraged to use the Kids Smart bracelets, a free service that helps parents reconnect with children should they get separated in the crowds.
Water points will also be available throughout the venue.
In addition to the central city switch-on, smaller festive lighting events will take place in Langa on 2 December and Mitchells Plain on 5 December.
