Almost three months since its formation, Floyd Shivambu’s Afrika Mayibuye Movement (AMM) has announced wholesale changes to its leadership structure, following some high-profile exits from the party.

Infighting continues to plague the newly formed political entity. This past week saw the resignation of one of the party’s deputy presidents and two of its deputy secretary-generals.

The AMM has replaced two of its deputy presidents and two of its deputy secretary-generals.

The party has also created new positions within its National Leadership Structure.

However, the party says there were some who "jumped ship" before they could be pushed out.

In a statement, the AMM described this challenging period as a “separation of wheat from chaff.”

The leadership upheaval comes shortly after the party was forced to cancel its fundraising gala dinner. The dinner was intended to raise money for its first National Convention scheduled for next month.
