The City of Tshwane has said the continued rainfall and high winds are making it unsafe for artisans to respond to service interruptions brought on by the rainstorm.
This as heavy rains which have battered parts of Gauteng from Sunday, through Monday, continue to affect the metro.
The City said severe weather-related electricity faults are being logged in several areas because of lightning strikes, fallen trees, uprooted lamp poles, and hail damage to infrastructure.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said efforts to restore damaged infrastructure will resume at full capacity as soon as weather conditions stabilise and it's safe to work:
“This is compounded by the weather forecast showing of further thunderstorms and hail activity. These prolonged and intensifying conditions are disrupting essential municipal services, including electricity, water supply, waste collection and road operations.”
Mashigo has urged residents to be patient.
“The continued rainfall and high winds make it unsafe for artisans to repair live components, climb poles or operate heavy equipment.”
