The prosecution in the high-profile trial of Nafiz Modack and 14 others on Tuesday argued that co-accused Zane Kilian used the same pattern when he tracked targets, allegedly for Modack.

Modack and his co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes, including murder, extortion, money laundering, and fraud.

Prosecutors are cross-examining Modack about his alleged involvement in the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans, on Tuesday, showed the court how Zane Kilian used the same modus operandi when he tracked attorney William Booth and slain top cop, Charl Kinnear.

It's the state's case that Modack plotted the attempted murder of Booth and the murder of Kinnear five years ago by using Kilian to track their whereabouts.

Evidence shows Kilian pinged Booth and Kinnear at an alarming rate, just before they were attacked in separate incidents in 2020.

"Kilian, as the pinger is clearly in cahoots with the shooter on the ground. In both the booth instance and the Kinnear instance," said Wolmarans.

"Only Kilian can answer that, my lord," to which Modack answered.

Evidence shows Kilian and his lawyer at the time, Eric Bryer, received payments amounting to more than R200,000 at the time of Kinnear's murder.
