Former England cricketer Robin Smith (62) dies unexpectedly

Former England batsman Robin Smith passed away at the age of 62.
A family statement confirmed that he died unexpectedly at his home in Perth on Monday, 1 December.
Popularly known as ‘Judge’, the South African-born English cricketer played 62 Tests for England from 1988 to 1996, scoring 4,236 runs at an average of 43.67, including nine centuries.
He also played more than 600 matches for Hampshire Cricket and scored over 30,000 runs for the club during a career that lasted more than 20 years.
“Robin rose to fame as one of England's most charismatic and popular players. A brave and dashing batsman, he excelled both for Hampshire and his adopted country, collecting legions of admirers and friends along the way,” a family statement said.
Smith retired from first-class cricket and moved to Australia.
