NTT Data’s Saturday School celebrates 30 years of helping thousands of high school learners improve their marks and achieve excellent results in matric.

This programme runs every Saturday of the school year calendar in underserved communities.

It offers supplemental education in subjects relating to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), in addition to languages and life skills for Grade 11 and 12 learners.

The programme has partnered with government schools and universities to identify and support pupils with high potential.

Through the programme, many have gone on to secure bursaries and employment with NTT Data, and some have even been employees for over 16 years.

NTT Data managing director Amanda Naidoo says the programme is a key part in the company’s commitment to creating a place where people can learn and grow.

“One of the biggest drives in the curriculum is based on having math and science, but also understanding how do we work with learners to dream big, to have ambition... the drive to see the potential and possibilities that are open to them.”

She adds: “The most critical skills at the moment are resilience and curiosity. Those two skills will set individuals apart. If you are curious enough to learn as things are changing, resilient enough to adapt as roles are changing, it sets you up with a learner mentality, you pivot constantly as things change.”
