The City of Tshwane said it has intensified power restoration efforts after severe weather caused electricity outages across parts of the metro.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms this week, which could lead to localised flooding and damage to infrastructure.
The municipality said Region 3, including the CBD, Hatfield and Brooklyn, has been the hardest hit.
Spokesperson Selby Bokaba said that since the start of the week, more than 5,000 outages were reported, but on Saturday morning, only 410 remained on record.
"A total of 17 additional personnel diverted from metering teams and reinforcements from other regions have been deployed to bolster operations, with region 3 receiving top priority due to the severity and magnitude of its outages".
