The Afrika Mayibuye Movement said it won't hesitate to act against members who sow divisions in the party.
This, as the organisation sets its sights on an ambitious target to break ground at the upcoming local government elections.
It will be the first time the party heads to the polls since its formation earlier in 2025.
The Afrika Mayibuye Movement wrapped up its inaugural national convention at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus on Sunday, where delegates from all 54 districts adopted the founding documents, policies and commission reports.
“If you had constituted a faction of any kind in the organisation, that faction is dissolved with immediate effect. If you were not on speaking terms with any of the members or leaders of Afrika Mayibuye Movement, from now on, you must be on speaking terms. We do not have space for squabbles. We do not have space for petty politics,” said party leader Floyd Shivambu.
Shivambu said he wants his new party to learn from the mistakes of his former political homes, including the African National Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.
“This is my way. Afrika has got its own life, and we must respect its integrity on everything else that we do. We must not come with squabbles and fights of other political parties.”
