The Springbok Sevens spectacularly defended their HSBC SVNS Cape Town title over the weekend.
After outscoring France 22-17 in the semi-finals, the Blitzboks sealed the title with a hard-fought 21-19 win over Argentina in the finals on Sunday, 7 December 2026.
Speaking to 947’s Robert Marawa, coach Philip Snyman says the players dug deep, even when they were behind early in the second half.
At halftime, he reminded the team that Argentina was only ahead because of South African errors.

“When we have the ball in hand, we are very dangerous, and I think the guys responded well to the message. They got the ball back, and even in the last minute when we were five points down, they kept the ball for close to a minute, and we scored.
“I think we peaked at the right time and one or two guys were instrumental off the bench, made a big impact and brought the fire,” he adds.
