Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi said that she won’t hesitate to act against any official in her department incriminated in the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry investigating police corruption.
But she said that many of the claims are unproven, and she’s awaiting the commission to make specific referrals in particular cases.
Briefing Parliament on the annual performance plan for her department on Tuesday, Kubayi said that the commission is doing good work, and she’s in talks with her finance counterpart to ensure there’s enough budget for the commission to complete its work by the end of August.
Kubayi said that she doesn’t want to act on hearsay and allegations that were made at Parliament’s inquiry into police corruption and the ongoing Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

She said that once investigations reveal prima facie evidence, she will do so.
"So, once we receive those specific cases, as the executive authority, we will definitely act."
Kubayi confirmed that she’s investigating a complaint made against the head of the Investigating Directorate against Corruption, Andrea Johnson.
"I can say that was a formal complaint that was lodged with me. That process is ongoing."
Kubayi said that another complaint she’s probing is related to the recruitment process of the National Director of Public Prosecutions.
