Another extension on the cards for Parliament inquiry investigating police corruption

Another extension is on the cards for the parliamentary inquiry investigating corruption.
Members of the committee also raised concerns about the lack of resources to finalise, with calls for more legal assistance to conclude the committee’s draft report.
The Ad Hoc Committee continued proceedings on Tuesday night, where it discussed an extension and when it plans to submit its first draft report.
The committee investigating police corruption is currently in its reporting drafting phase after it concluded public hearings with the final witness KwaZulu-Natal (KZN)'s Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, at the end of March.

It met after weeks due to Parliament’s recess at the end of its first term.
Members of the committee are still not sure when they will conclude after the deadline was extended to 30 April.
Committee Member Khusela Sangoni Diko said, "You also asked about the end date. We can’t lie we’re obviously very disappointed. We would have hoped that we wrap up this process."
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)'s Leigh-Ann Mathys said that it all boils down to resources.
"It cannot be that we have three evidence leaders that are doing this report. This is the reason that we’re hear today and got a report that was incomplete. The evidence leaders will submit a draft report next week before another extension is considered by the speaker."
