The Department of Basic Education has confirmed the discovery of an integrity breach that occurred during the marking process of the matric final exam papers.
The infraction was identified through the department’s internal quality control and monitoring processes.
Department spokesperson Terrence Khala confirmed that Minister Siviwe Gwarube will address the public and media regarding the incident and the measures to be implemented to safeguard the integrity of the 2025 examinations.
"The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Siviwe Gwarube, will tomorrow, Thursday 11 December, address members of the media at an urgent briefing following the identification of an examination breach during the marking process of the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations."
