Police in Gauteng have warned communities against taking matters into their own hands after a mob attack in Diepkloof Zone 5, Soweto.

On Wednesday night, a 19-year-old man was found dead alongside three other men on the side of the road.

Police are investigating a murder case.

In a video circulating on social media, four of the boys are seen sitting on the ground completely naked in the middle of the road, with one of them with his hands tied behind his back.

They are surrounded by a group of community members who seem to be shouting at them.

Some of them are bleeding.

Police spokesperson Dimakatso NevhuHlwi said some of the boys were found with gunshot wounds.

“One of them was declared dead on the scene, while three were taken to hospital. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage, and police will be investigating a case of murder and three counts of attempted murder.”

While there is speculation that the group of boys were troublesome, police said that the motive of the incident is still under investigation.
