Proceedings have been disrupted in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature, where a vote on the motion of no confidence against Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli is meant to take place.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and uMkhonto Wesizwe party are objecting to a decision by the speaker to hold an open vote.
They want the vote on the motion to be held by way of a secret ballot.
Tensions flared after KZN legislature speaker, Nontembeko Boyce, declared voting on the motion to remove Thamsanqa Ntuli as premier would take place in a ballot.
This was rejected by the EFF, with its leader in the province, Mongezi Twala, insisting that a secret ballot is necessary for the safety of all members voting
This has since delayed the business of the day, with members of the opposition singing and chanting.
The MK party brought the motion against Ntuli forward - accusing him and the government of provincial unity of failing to deliver services
