Pikitup waste collection to continue throughout festive season

City of Johannesburg waste management entity Pikitup says it will continue normal waste collection services throughout the December holiday period, except for Christmas Day, 25 December 2025.

Operations will continue as normal on 16 and 26 December 2025, and 1 January 2026.

The entity has also urged residents to report staff who may be soliciting Christmas gifts. 

“The company has received several complaints from communities across its 12 operational depots, reporting that staff have been knocking on doors and pressuring residents for festive ‘gifts’.”

Residents should note the registration number of the compactor truck involved and report any incidents to the Pikitup call centre on 010 055 5990 or 087 357 106
